P2D Update March: Innovation on and off the court!

The month of March is all about renewal, and we have been working hard on a new mobile app and new features that make organizing your events via P2D even smoother.

The new Padel2Day App Version 2.1 is live!

The mobile app for players has received a major upgrade to improve the player experience. Although the P2D environment for organizers remains the trusted foundation for the full configuration of locations and events, the updated app for players offers the following improvements, among others:

  • Updated Interface: The homepage now features handy tabs, allowing players to see available events, the events they are registered for, and the results of their played matches at a glance.
  • Automatic Competitions per Template: A competition is now automatically created from every template. We will tell you more about this later in this newsletter!
  • Calendar Integration: Players can now add an event they are registered for directly to their own digital calendar.
  • Confirmation upon Cancellation: To prevent accidental cancellations, players will from now on be asked for an explicit confirmation when they sign off from an event.

Looking ahead: Version 2.2 is coming

We are not sitting still! Version 2.2 is scheduled for April, in which the power of padel communities will take center stage even more. With this, we help you make the bond with your players and the engagement within the club even stronger.

Automatic Competitions per Template More fun and engagement

In this edition, we dive deeper into the most exciting feature of the new app update. With the automatic competition per template, every type of event you organize — whether it is a weekly Americano or a monthly King of the Court — automatically becomes a continuous competition for your players.

What exactly does it entail?

In P2D, templates form the basis for your events. From now on, the system automatically collects all match results of every event linked to a specific template. This creates a live leaderboard in the app where players can track their performances over a longer period.

Fair and transparent scoring

  • Points per day: The percentage of games won by a player on a match day are the points that player earns. Did a player win 54% of the games? Then that equals 54 points.
  • Direct insight: This percentage is visible to the player in the app directly after the event, ensuring maximum transparency.
  • Opportunities for everyone: Because of this, not only players on court 1 have a chance to get a good qualification. After all, a player on a lower court can also achieve a high winning percentage and thus become "winner of the day".
  • Performance and loyalty: Players who structurally perform well will rise in level and eventually play on court 1 against the best opponents. The leaderboard thus offers a perfect balance between performance and loyalty.

The Best-off principle & the 25% rule

To keep the competition fair and exciting, a result counts based on a smart algorithm:

  • Which scores count? This depends on the total number of organized events within a template. We take the best 25% of those (with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 50 scores). So, with 40 organized events, the 10 best scores of a player count towards the final ranking.
  • No worries about an 'off-day' & loyalty pays off: An occasional bad day has no impact on the ranking, because only the best performances are included. This rewards loyal players; the more often they participate, the more chance they have to improve a score with a new high score.

Tip for the club: Make it official!

Do you want to take engagement to an even higher level? Offer a nice prize at the end of the year for the top of the leaderboard, such as free credits, for example. That way, you turn it into a real competition that players look forward to all year round!

Last-minute cancellations? Auto-promote will arrange a replacement.

Nothing is more annoying than a last-minute cancellation when your courts are already assigned. With Padel2Day's smart automation, you keep the quality of your events high and your courts full, without having to worry about it yourself.

Self-service for late cancellations (Late-signoff)

Thanks to the setting "Allow cancellations after the registration has closed?", you determine the rules for late cancellations. When this is enabled, players can unregister themselves via the app after the deadline. They will then not receive a refund of their credits, while you immediately maintain an up-to-date participant list without manual actions.

Quality control via Auto-suspension

To increase the reliability of registrations, P2D uses Auto-suspension. This feature is enabled by default and works as follows:

  • Yellow Cards: A player who cancels after the deadline automatically receives a Yellow Card that remains valid for two months.
  • Red Card: With two Yellow Cards within this period, a Red Card follows, meaning the player cannot participate in your events for two months.

The community helps: Fill your courts lightning fast

A late sign-off directly triggers an automatic message in the Template chat group and push notifications to your players, stating that the first person to claim the open spot plays for free. This way, your court is filled in no time by your own community!

Ready for worry-free organization?

For your templates, this feature is disabled by default so that everything works as it always has. If you want to use this, go to the template, make sure Auto-promote is enabled, and check the option that allows players to cancel even after the event has closed.
